The St. Kitts Cricket Association (SKCA) has officially announced the return of red ball cricket with the staging of the Andrew Weekes Two-Day Competition 2026, a feature event marking the Association’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
In a statement, the SKCA extended an invitation to cricket enthusiasts across the Federation to witness the revival of the traditional format, which has long been regarded as the foundation of the game.
The competition has been renamed in honour of the late Andrew Weekes, a pioneering figure in local cricket. Weekes made history as the first Kittitian to qualify as an international umpire and served with distinction as President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Umpires Association. He was also a respected member of the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association, earning widespread recognition for his contribution to the integrity and development of the sport.
The Association noted that the tournament is not only a tribute to Weekes’ legacy but also a celebration of the enduring passion for cricket in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Three teams—La Poinciana, Molyneaux/Cayon (MCCC), and Young Guns—will compete across multiple weekends, with matches scheduled at the Conaree and Molyneaux grounds.
