Ministry of Health Statement on a Death at the JNF General Hospital A&E Department

The Ministry of Health issued a statement on 14 October 2026 about the death of a patient in the Accident & Emergency Department of the Joseph N. France General Hospital on 12 October 2026.

The Ministry expressed its condolences to the patient’s family and friends, and to everyone affected.

Investigation

• The Ministry says it is aware of an audio recording about the death that is circulating.
• Hospital authorities have given the Ministry a preliminary report.
• An investigation is underway to establish the facts.
• A post-mortem examination will be conducted under the authority of the Coroner to determine the cause of death.

The family

Representatives of the Ministry and the hospital administration have met the family and given them an update. The Ministry asks the public to respect the family’s privacy.

The Ministry says patient safety, transparency and accountability are its priorities.
